The boss here drops a summon called Skeletal Militiaman Ashes. These skeletons are a fantastic early-game summon as they revive unless struck down while on the ground, which makes them durable against most enemies.

Snagging the Green Turtle Talisman

Now, let's head towards the right side of the ruins where you’ll spot a gravestone icon (the Ashen icon). This means you can summon your spirits here, but we'll bypass summoning for now. As you proceed, you'll notice some turtles—this is your sign that you're in the right place.

Use your Stone Sword Key to unlock the path and open the chest to obtain the Green Turtle Talisman. This talisman boosts your stamina recovery speed, making it an invaluable item for almost any build. Souls veterans might recognize it as a similar item to the Chloranthy Ring from previous games.

Heading South for Sacred Blade

From the ruins, continue heading south until you reach the cliff's edge. You'll encounter a Cerulean Scarab—a blue one this time, which replenishes your Focus Points (FP). As a tip, remember that red scarabs replenish your health flasks.

In this area, you'll find Sacred Blade, a powerful early-game Ash of War. It adds holy damage to your weapon, allowing you to vanquish skeletons with a single hit.

Discovering the Flask of Wondrous Physick

As you proceed to a nearby church (marked on your map), you’ll find the Flask of Wondrous Physick. This unique item allows you to mix your own potion, choosing specific effects that can give you an edge in battle. It's a fantastic addition to the game, offering customization to suit your playstyle.

Taking the Teleporter to a Dangerous Area

Northeast of the church, you’ll find a teleporter in a pool of water. This will transport you to an area far beyond your current level, but don’t worry—there’s no need to engage in combat here. Just grab the Golden Seed and make a run for the nearby site of grace to safely return later.

Beast Claw and Deathroots

This area houses a powerful NPC who grants the Beast Claw ability, but only after you've fed him Deathroots. You can farm Deathroots from certain enemies like the Tibia Mariners. We’ll revisit this later, but for now, avoid fighting the Gargoyle nearby—it's far too powerful at this stage.

Early Farming Spot: The Ball Trap

Next, we’re heading to an early-game farming spot discovered by Boomstick Gaming. Instead of battling difficult enemies, we’ll use a clever trick involving a falling ball. As you approach, a ball will spawn and roll off the cliff—netting you 2,000 runes every time you do this. You can repeat this process by warping back to Lenny’s Rise.

Exploring the Puzzle Tower

We’ll also tackle a puzzle tower in the area. Normally, a statue provides instructions, but this one is broken. No worries—we're here to help! Simply mount your horse, jump onto a nearby balcony, and climb the tower to claim a Memory Stone, which increases your spell slots—perfect for mage builds.

Wrapping Up at the Church and Map Fragments

Finally, we’ll head back to the church in East Limgrave to grab a map fragment and chat with an NPC who will give you a quest to clear out a southern area.

Be cautious in Mistwood—though it's an early-game area, it’s also home to formidable Rune Bears. These enemies are best avoided for now. Keep an eye out for a Treasure Ghost—follow it for some extra loot, though it’s optional.
