Throne and Liberty: Boon Stone War Strategy Guide
In this guide, I'm going to walk you through my first-ever Boon Stone War in Throne and Liberty, sharing some insights and strategies I picked up along the way. For those new to Boon Stone Wars, think of it like a capture the flag scenario, but with the added complexity of team coordination, survival tactics, and a variety of roles to juggle. Throughout the battle, I also had the opportunity to utilize some Throne and Liberty Lucent abilities, which added an extra layer of strategy to my gameplay. So, let’s break it down!
Setting Up Your Build: Spear & Dagger for Versatility
For my first Boon Stone War, I used a Spear-Dagger build, which I’ve also created a separate video for, so make sure to check that out for detailed specs. This build is perfect for small and large-scale battles because of its versatility. The Spear provides great range for crowd control and picking off enemies from a distance, while the Dagger excels in quick, close combat. I was focused on bombing—a strategy that involves quickly taking out enemy players while staying mobile, and it worked out well.
However, being new to the build, I learned a lot about survivability and positioning during this first war. You’ll notice I didn’t always manage to finish kills, but with practice, this build can secure massive kill streaks.
Early Stages of the War: Coordinating with Your Team
In this particular match, we were outnumbered by two or three extra players on the enemy team, which added an extra challenge. The goal was to defend the flag once we captured it. I stayed in constant communication with my shot caller, Ash, who was directing the team’s movements. A lot of the time, my focus was on supporting the team, clearing out weak targets, and buffing teammates with Bastion—a great tool for enhancing survivability.
One of my key tactics was flanking—I used my cloak ability to sneak behind the enemy and disrupt their formation, while my team held the front lines. However, I had to adapt quickly, since I was still getting used to the Spear-Dagger combo in actual battle.
Understanding the Map and Key Objectives
The key to winning in Boon Stone War is always awareness. As the enemy team pushes toward the flag, make sure to keep an eye on possible flankers. For instance, during one moment, I noticed an enemy trying to sneak around behind us to capture the flag. I quickly jumped in and dealt with them before they could succeed.
I also learned about the Feud mechanic, which is a system that allows guild leaders or advisers to mark specific enemies as priority targets. If you see a red logo next to an enemy’s name, that means they are a feuded target, and you should focus on them for maximum impact.
Keeping the Flag Safe: Holding the Line
Once we had the flag, the next challenge was to defend it at all costs. I stayed with Serena, a healer and bow user, on the flag platform. While Serena didn’t have much DPS (damage per second), I stayed close to ensure the enemy couldn’t sneak past.
It’s important not to get too aggressive when defending. Sometimes, it’s better to stay grouped up with your team, particularly when defending the flag. I didn’t push forward too much and instead focused on maintaining control of the flag platform while my team engaged the enemy. At this point, the enemy team was scrambling—they couldn’t figure out how to break through our defenses.
Dealing with Enemy Pushes
As the enemy tried to push forward, I made sure to position myself well and use my javelins for AOE (area of effect) damage. This is where my build came in handy. Although I initially made a few mistakes using the Javelin on single targets, I learned that it’s much more effective when hitting clustered enemies, as the splash damage can be devastating.
You’ll notice that the enemy team tried to clump up during their push, which was a bad idea considering we had several Spears in our lineup. Spears excel in crowd control, and the enemy was easily scattered as they got hit by AOE damage from our javelins and spears.
Final Stages: Countering Sneak Attacks
As the fight wore on, I kept an eye on our backline to make sure no enemies were sneaking up behind us. The mini-map is essential for tracking enemies—particularly feuded targets. If you see a red bell icon on the mini-map, it means that a feuded enemy is nearby, and you should be prepared to defend your position. I was also making sure I had access to cheap TL Lucent from MMOEXP, which helped boost my survivability during key moments. The enemy tried one last push, but their lack of Spears in their composition meant that they were vulnerable to our range and AOE attacks. We held strong and were able to secure the flag, marking the win for our side.
Lessons Learned
My first Boon Stone War was a learning experience. Here are a few key takeaways:
· Survival is key—Make sure your build provides both offensive and defensive capabilities. My Spear-Dagger build was great for damage, but I learned that survivability through positioning and team coordination is just as important.
· Listen to your shot caller—Communicating with your team and following orders can make or break a fight. Always stay grouped and follow the plan.
· Positioning—Stay aware of the map and enemy movements. Don't rush in alone and avoid being too aggressive if your team needs help holding the line.
· Know your role—In large-scale battles, understanding your position (whether it's backline DPS, flanker, or support) is crucial to winning.
